How to play Never Have I Ever
One person reads a statement that starts with “Never have I ever…”. Anyone who has done it says “I have.” Everyone else says “never.” Then the next person reads. It works with two people or a whole room: all you need is a list and a few stories.
You don’t have to keep score. The fun part comes after the answer: “You have? Tell me.” If you’d rather not share, one word is enough — or just skip the question.
Playing as a couple, answer at the same time so nobody waits to see what the other one says. Count to three, or use the game below.

Common questions
- What are the rules of Never Have I Ever?
- Players take turns reading statements that begin with “Never have I ever.” Everyone answers honestly: “I have” or “never.” Whoever has done it can tell the story if they want to. Nobody wins; the point is to learn something new about each other.
- What are good never have I ever questions for couples?
- Start with the couples set: dates, habits and small gestures. Once the conversation flows, add a few from the bolder set. Keep the funny ones handy for whenever there’s a lull.
- How do you play Never Have I Ever with two people?
- Take turns reading and both answer every question. It helps to answer at the same moment, so neither of you adjusts to the other. On two phones that happens by itself: answers open once you’ve both picked.
- How many questions do you need for one evening?
- Fifteen to twenty is usually plenty. If the stories run long, ten is fine too. The rest will keep until next time.
- What if someone doesn’t want to answer?
- Skip it. It’s a game, not a lie detector. Agree on that before you start, and the other questions get easier to answer.
